Spokesman Andrew Wyatt (L) arrives with actor and comedian Bill Cosby on the second day of his sexual assault trial at the Montgomery County Courthouse in Norristown, Pennsylvania, U.S. June 6, 2017. "The job now is for the two sides to prove their cases and I accept whatever verdict is handed down".
Johnson said she had waited years to accuse Cosby. But her demeanour changed when the testimony switched to the night in question.
When Mr Cosby started inviting her over for dinner, Ms Constand said, she thought he was trying to help her fit in after her recent move. Constand said she doesn't remember losing consciousness but was then "jolted awake" by the alleged assault, which she said involved "feeling his hand inside my vagina" and "feeling him take my hand and place it on his penis". "Somebody I trusted. A mentor".
The defense has argued that Cosby's infidelity to his wife made him "vulnerable" to accusations and has sought to undermine Constand's credibility, portraying their relationship as consensual, with many meetings and phone calls.
"My dress was pulled up from the bottom", she said, "and it was pulled down from the top".
Asked by a prosecutor why she remained friends with him, she said: "I wasn't scared of someone making an advance at me or a pass at me".
Miller said Johnson was tearful as she described waking up on a bed with her dress pulled down and her breast exposed - details that matched the story Johnson told on the stand.
The aftermath: "I did not have the courage at the time to tell my family, so I just went along with it". She testified that she told him she did not.
"It was the first time he put his hand on my thigh, it was the first time he touched me", she added, her strong voice wavering slightly at the word "touching". He also placed her hands on his genitals. She felt "terrible" about it, she said, especially when her mother brought Cosby some Canadian souvenirs.
Constand's cross-examination will continue when court resumes Wednesday.
Ms Johnson's mother, Patrice Sewell, took the stand on Tuesday, testifying that her daughter had called her in 1996 to recount the assault.
Sewell said they didn't go to police at the time because her husband, a Los Angeles detective, feared the ordeal that would ensue. "He didn't want that", Sewell said.
Kelly Johnson's story has featured prominently in the first two days of the trial where Cosby is charged with sexually assaulting Andrea Constand, a former basketball player and coach at his alma mater, Temple University.
She claimed to have developed debilitating stress from her secretarial job at the William Morris Agency and eventually settled for around $10,000, according to Miller, who represented the talent agency in the case.
But Miller's account differed from Johnson's in at least one respect: Under questioning from Cosby's lawyers, Miller said his notes show Johnson told him the encounter with Cosby happened in 1990, not 1996.
