Game of Thrones Season 7: What are Littlefinger's plans for Arya and Sansa Stark?
28 Agosto, 2017, 01:25
Sansa's political savvy seems simpering to Arya, and the younger Stark girl's bloodlust is crass and risky from Sansa's point of view.
Which Stark sister are you siding with?
The current conflict between Arya and Sansa Stark on Game of Thrones will not have a peaceful resolution, according to one of the show's directors.
When Littlefinger appeared peering out from behind a corner at her with a smirk on his face it all seemed too convenient.
Fast forward to this week where Sansa is concerned about Arya attacking her. Littlefinger gently and oh-so-innocently reminds her that should she and Arya come to blows, Brienne will be there to settle the fight.
It's a dismaying development for both characters. For Sansa, she is now taking advice from Littlefinger. It's not like she gave her a sly wink at the end, but she did explain her face-wearing powers in pretty good detail. Through that dance...or game, Sansa and Ayra Stark are becoming something that they have never been before. They were overjoyed to see each other, but that gave way to distrust much quicker than I would have expected, and plays right into the hands of opportunistic Littlefinger (Aidan Gillen), whom both Stark sisters know better than to trust, but who is nevertheless succeeding in manipulating them against each other. Yes, Arya may not be as aware of this rule as Sansa is, but there was an easy fix.
At first blush, it seems that Arya intends to instill deep fear in her sister, to show her how terrifying and sinister she's become since her days in Braavos at the House of Black and White. If the Stark sisters stay together, they'll survive us yet-and thrive in so doing.
Of course Arya seems petty and unforgiving.
Wait. She just stares creepily at him while he sleeps and sits on his bed?
On bring so many characters together: "Yeah, that's the dynamic of the show now, and will increase over the next episode and into the next season".
And then there's the weird character assassination the show seems to be engaged in on Arya's part. Imagine if these scenes, particularly the one in Arya's room, had had even a single moment of tentative connection instead of just mutual suspicion. As a Stark she could have represented her family with authority and it would have put her close enough to Cersei to kill her, which is exactly what she wants. The Northern Lords aren't likely to respond in a positive way to the news with a lot of them seeing Dany as a foreign invader who wants to rule over all of Westeros the same way her father did - with destruction and insanity. Here, we're watching one correct, reasonable party trying to convince someone who's being pointedly obtuse, for no reason other than it settles a grudge from six years ago. Which is all true, we all saw season 1. She could have given herself over to the same single-minded vengeance as her mother, Catelyn.
She won't be the only one either.
While GoT is running at a breakneck speed, Winterfell is still stuck in the same place post-Sansa-Arya reunion. But Sansa has grown.
Sansa and Arya don't know each other. It took us ― I don't know the exact number of days and weeks for the frozen lake.
Part of what makes Game of Thrones so thrilling is its willingness to subvert the fantasy genre.
This show loves slow motion montages featuring Jon looking like he's about to die. right before he gets saved. But at a certain point satisfaction has to count for something. When Sansa tries to turn the conversation back to the faces, Arya offers this thought about how their childhood dreams never came into fruition - for one of them anyway.
Now we are left wondering, where will this relationship go next? To have her become just another ruthless killer in a world of ruthless killers feels like a betrayal.
I don't want to be the one guy that has a problem with Game of Thrones. Acquiring the dragon was neat and all, but they clearly need to prioritize recruiting polar bears. Why should she after he more or less sold her off to the horrid Ramsay. Ah, but shouldn't Game of Thrones be allowed to develop its characters without having to respond to audience criticism?
On Saturday night, however, he will be without his top two targets as Evans and Jackson will sit out as a precautionary measure. When you have a player in Jameis Winston that is a dark horse MVP candidate , these expectations come with the territory.
